The red carpet at the Grammy’s this year felt a bit lack lustre and disappointing compared to those of Grammy’s past. No Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce or Kardashians ladies to stir up controversy and conversation with their fashion statements, for one. But I also felt like the people who did attend didn’t really make much of an effort. I thought maybe I was being a little too critical or I’d missed out on stuff so I revisited all the Grammy coverage and still felt like it was lacking fashion excitement. Did you feel that way too?
That said, here we go, my favourite looks of the night and the disappointments as well!
Anna Kendrick managed to keep things sexy and classy in her black Emanuel Ungaro, and was my favourite at the event.
Chrissy Teigen schooled us all in dressing a baby bump without being frumpy or oversharing – and looked divine. Factor in John Legend in his interesting Gucci jacket, and it’s no wonder they made it onto many many “Best Dressed’ lists, including this one!
Skylar Grey’s sheer dress wasn’t popular with a lot of folk, but I liked the quirk of the faces and net cape. Added bonus, she managed not to stray into Tackyville!
Selena Gomez chose a sexy Calvin Klein that flattered without being too try-hard.
Adele’s Givenchy might have been black but with the sparkle and cut-outs on the shoulders, it definitely wasn’t boring!
Newbie Lianne La Havas chose a vibrant chartreuse Vivienne Westwood gown for her red carpet outing. Nicely done!
Kaely Cuoco opted for a sexy cut-out jumpsuit from Naeem Khan instead of a gown, showcasing her taut midriff. My only quibble is that she needed a pop of colour, maybe a bright lippie?
Serayah served up dreamy and sexy in one shot in a drapey Vera Wang.
And finally, Alessandra Ambrosio rocked her black Versace with strappy sandals.
Of course, there were also the disappointing and the downright ridiculous. These ladies were by no means, the worst offenders. But I’ve come to hold them to a higher standard and this time, they didn’t deliver.
Taylor Swift did super sexy in orange and hot pink Versace, and while I get – from her red carpet ‘evolution’ – that showing her undies was the only thing left, I wasn’t prepared for this!
Lady Gaga was paying tribute to the late David Bowie in this custom Marc Jacobs jacket but the shoes and make up took it a tad too far, I think.
Ciara’s Alexandre Vauthier couture gown imply looked like an accident waiting to happen, despite how much I love monochrome!
We’re used seeing Carrie Underwood do sweet, and lately, sexy. And while her Nicolas Jebran does deliver on the latter, and is in my favourite colour, I don’t like it. Too much going on perhaps, with the ruffled boobage, waist detail, slit to there and train?
Who were your favs and disappointments of the night?
